Sometimes we expect more from people than they are capable or willing to give. In this instance, we will be let down because we expected to much or more than a person is willing or able to give. Be careful of expecting too much from people. We can control ourselves but cannot control other people. These is why I love this quote.

I like a quote from the Declaration of Independence, which declares that "all men are created equal." I have known this quote from the course of English and American Cultural Backgrounds. It really hit my eyes at that time since its conciseness could bring power to the readers. I have seen this quote the second time when studying the novel of The Great Gatsby. In The Great Gatsby, most of the characters have got their own dreams to reach according to the Declaration of Independence that allows everyone to upgrade themselves. There are two main paths for them to choose - the right path and the wrong one. Some of them follow the right path to achieve their dreams, but some do not, regarded as the corruption of the American Dream.
Personally, the word 'equal' is very meaningful for all of us who live in the society of democracy! There should/must not be any criteria of discrimination in our society. However poor or rich we are born, we all are equal. We cannot dehumanize or look down on other people just because of their differences from our group. We need to see differences as varieties of people. Acceptance should be used as compromising tools to pave the ways for everyone to move forwards without any problems among people living in the same society.
Since all of us are going to be teachers in this near future, it is very important that we try to instill right mind about varieties of people in the society! They should be taught to see discrimination as a weird thing because "all men are created equal."
