Why the seawater is salty and the river water is not?
After years and years of river inflow and evaporation, the salt content of the lake water built up to the present levels. The same process made the seas salty. Rivers carry dissolved salts to the ocean. Water evaporates from the oceans to fall again as rain and to feed the rivers, but the salts remain in the ocean.

I don't know actually. Anyway, this question is very good because it makes me wonder about what I never wonder before. Thank you for sharing this information, Pond.

It must be from chemicals or chemical reactions between substances in the seawater for sure.
I mean I am not a scientist so this answer is just my guess, apparently lol.
Let's see the right answer by asking Google, I advice.

Re: Why the seawater is salty and the river water is not?
I do some research for you. Here is just brief information. Seawater is salty because of salt. And the salt comes from rocks on land. The rain that falls on the land contains some dissolved carbon dioxide from the surrounding air. This causes the rainwater to be slightly acidic due to carbonic acid (which forms from carbon dioxide and water). So As the rain erodes the rock, acids in the rainwater break down the rock which increases the amount of salt in the ocean. There is more information on Google. You can search and read by yourself.

Re: Why the seawater is salty and the river water is not?
The primeval seas were probably only slightly salty. But over time, as rain fell to the Earth and ran over the land, breaking up rocks and transporting their minerals to the ocean, the ocean has become saltier.

It is because at the beginning, the primeval seas were probably only slightly salty. But over time, as rain fell to the Earth and ran over the land, breaking up rocks and transporting their minerals to the ocean, the ocean has become saltier.

The saltiness of the ocean is the result of several natural influences and processes; water from rivers entering the ocean is just one of these factors.

I have searched about it last week. The fact is salt in the ocean comes from rocks on land. The rain that falls on the land contains the saltiness into the ocean.

Re: Why the seawater is salty and the river water is not?
I have never know about it before but this is my solution of asking Google
Seawater, which has taken in some of the salty substances of the rocks, then flows through rivers, making the water in the river slightly salty too. That being said, you won’t find the river water salty, as the concentration of salt in that water is also quite low. The water from all rivers is deposited in the seas and along with it, the salt also gets deposited, making the seawater salty. This exact same process has been going on for millions of years, which has made the salinity of seawater become apparent to our senses.
